Job Description

Description:Network Administrator/Engineer
Degree Required
Administer and monitor all servers, and network
infrastructure including Firewalls, switches, and storage area network (SAN)
arrays. Ensure that these infrastructure components provide access to
consolidated, block level data storage without interruption. Recommend and
configure SANs to enhance other storage devices, such as disk arrays,
accessible to servers so that the devices appear to the operating system as
locally attached devices.

Manage local and wide area networks, including
virtual LANs (VLANs) and Virtual Private networks (VPN) tunnels to connect
remote users or to the company's private, internal network.
Proactively monitor all systems to identify and
resolve disruption of service issues before they happen.
Maintain Operating System (OS) software, and
company Personal Computers (PCs) hardware and servers including:
Install OS/security patches on ongoing basis for
all PCs/servers (Windows and Linux)
Monitor health of PCs and servers           
Recommend hardware/OS replacement and upgrade,
and configure new PCs/servers for use
Connect/troubleshoot PC/servers to internal
Manage and support Web Application and Database
Implement/modify MicroSoft Active
Directory/local policies (protocols) on PCs and domain controllers
Manage PC/server backup/restore processes and
procedures including Disaster Recovery plan; Maintain and test Disaster
Recovery plans.
Monitor third-party software applications used
on PCs/servers as to proper functionality, including upgrades & patches as
required. Ensure proper licensing of software products.
Use and update the IT change management
protocols, and systems administration policies and procedures, as required.
Maintain detailed system documentation on all
systems and processes, and logs of all System Administration activities, as
duties are performed or as processes are modified.
Develop web site performance metrics, and
identify areas for improvement
Maintain understanding of current Web / Server
technologies through continuing education, reading, or participation in
professional conferences, workshops, or groups
Maintain and do periodic refreshes of hardware
and software including planning, testing and upgrading servers and software
Manage virtual access control processes
Provision new staff User Credentials and
temporary passwords
Change super user account access on periodic
basis per Information Security policies
Delete User Credentials as staff leave the
Maintain logs of access control activities for
review purposes
Install, monitor and manage intrusion prevention
system (IPS) and intrusion detection systems (IDS) to monitor all networks and
firewalls for malicious activities such as security threats or policy
violations. Ensure that the IPS functions to identify suspicious activity, log
information, attempt to block the activity, and report the activity. 
Report security incidents to executive
management immediately upon identification.
Proactively monitor all systems for intrusions
or denial of service attacks, and report security breaches to appropriate
Maintain logs of changes to security processes
as any changes are made.  Provide input
to management/Update formal information security policies as changes are made
to the information security environment.
Monitor security system performance logs to
identify problems and make appropriate recommendations for resolutions when
problems occur
Implement web site security measures, such as
firewalls or message encryption.
Perform an annual security assessment to
identify and high security risk area
Assist in educating staff and management
regarding information security trends and techniques
