Description:POSITION SUMMARY

The HR Generalist is
responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of group benefits
programs (e.g. group health, dental, vision, wellness, life, Std, Ltd, Workers’
comp, HSA, retirement plans, EAP, 1095’s etc.) and for providing analytical and
technical support in the delivery of benefits programs to employees.  You must have strong benefits experience.  Located in Mansfield, Texas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Benefits Coordination

•        
Serve as a link between management and employees
by handling questions, interpreting and administering employee related policies
and helping resolve employee enrollment and claim issues. 

•        
Plan and oversee new employee benefits
orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives. 

•        
Primary daily and periodic responsibility for
benefit maintenance to include:


Maintainenance
of file feeds
Vendor
management
Dependent
Audits
End
of year audits


•        
EE Assistance Programs


Manage
relationship with EAP vendor
Schedule
EAP for any urgent/personal requests when needed
Lead
contact for communication and wellness guides


•        
Life Insurance Program Administration


Conduct
monthly audits
Create
claim packets when necessary
Work
with families of impacted employees to ensure efficient filing of claims


•        
COBRA Administration


Weekly
file feed for COBRA TPA
Address
changes
Manage
COBRA costs
Ensure
COBRA participants receive annual open enrollment info and regulatory
communications


•        
EE Self Service / Benefits On-line / Life
Qualifying Events


Monitor
system for any life events submitted
Work
with employees when life events are completed and new hires start to
obtain all required documentation Lead in any benefit employee
self-service issues
Verification
of changes in vendor systems
Works
with IT / Carriers / Payroll Vendor to identify, test and communicate any
issues


Plan Administration

•        
Benefit Plan Document Management and Updates


Ensure company
compliance with provisions of ERISA and the ACA
Update
governing documents annually and ensure posting and communication is
within regulations


•        
Benefit Comparisons and Renewals


Renewal
effective July 1; Renewal preparation January - April
Partner
with broker to conduct annual benefit renewals
Compare
3 benefit surveys to ensure competitive with peers (if available)
Conduct
impact analysis to identify impact of any potential changes
Analyze
RFP for potential vendor changes or new programs
Work
with broker to develop executive summary and presentation


•        
Annual open enrollment updates and changes


OE
requires preparation work from March - August
Communication
planning and field visit scheduling
Develop
and conduct all open enrollment meetings
Lead
updating all documents and communication materials
Lead
all technology updates due to plan changes and new programs
Manage
all file feed changes and timing
Audit
initial 4 pay periods to ensure that all OE events are correctly
processed and reconciled between payroll and the carriers.


•        
Review exit interviews, as appropriate, to
identify benefit related feedback from the separating employee. 

•        
Analyze statistical data and reports to analyze
usage and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's benefit
package. 

•        
Maintain records and compile statistical reports
concerning benefit-related data such as participation rates, reported reasons
for non-participation, and industry trends. 

•        
Analyze and modify benefits policies to establish
competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements. 

Leave Administration & Wage Continuation

•        
Counsel employees on leave process

•        
Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they
relate to leaves of absence/disabilities

•        
Ensure appropriate documentation is complete in
support of the time away request

•        
Support employees during the leave process,
including facilitating communication between the employee and the leave TPA

•        
Manage time while out on LOA, if applicable;
Notify ER once employee has exhausted time per policy

•        
Coordinate medical insurance premium payments,
end of coverage and eligibility for COBRA

•        
Support payroll during leave, working through the
HRIS when possible and documenting any activities which are not possible within
the HRIS

•        
STD


Support
employees during the claim process, including facilitating communication
between the employee and the TPA
Ensure
all appropriate documentation is completed, supporting the wage
continuation claim


•        
LTD


Support
employees during the claim process, including facilitating communication
between the employee and the TPA


•        
FMLA Assistance


Ensure
all employee on leave complete paperwork based on federal guidelines
Manage
the process and timelines with the TPA
Work
with physician offices to complete paperwork when necessary


•        
Workman’s Comp (w/ HSE) and Federal Reporting


Ensure
all employee on leave complete paperwork based on federal guidelines
Manage
the process and timelines with the TPA
Work
with physician offices to complete paperwork when necessary
Manage
WC claims to ensure return to work as quickly as possible


•        
Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Education and Experience

•        
Bachelor's
degree in HR or a related field or equivalent education, training and
experience.

 

Preferred Education and
Experience

•        
Five
to seven years of experience in benefit specialist role with 3-5 of that
experience managing a self-insured plan

•        
Knowledge
and understanding of HIPAA, QMCSO, COBRA and ACA Compliance testing

•        
Knowledge
and understanding of FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA and other applicable legislation

•        
Two (2) or more years’ experience in the transportation industry a
big plus

multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines

•        
Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel and HRIS
system.) Experience with desktop publishing software (Illustrator, Page Maker,
Photoshop) is a plus
