Summary: Act as
subject matter expert for IP Networking. CCIE level Network Consulting Engineer
(NCE) to support Cisco and the end-customer, typically a major wireless service
provider. The NCE will provide Tier 3 IP Networking services, including network
design and, high level trouble ticket escalation, to the end customer’s
network. The NCE will be in a customer facing role and, must be able to closely
coordinate with clients and internal teams to provide knowledge transfer.
Primary function is to act as a subject matter expert in a Service Provider
environment using MPLS, BGP and OSPF. A great deal of customer interaction is
expected. This is a regular, full-time opportunity well suited for a senior
level, service provider network consultant.
Education: MSEE, MSCS, or; BSEE, BSCS or similar, with emphasis in
TelecommunicationsCertifications: CCIE (SP or R&S) SME is required; CCIP or CCNP with strong
R&S or equivalent work experience may be considered.
Work Experience:
-- Minimum or 5 years’
experience as a routing & switching SME with a carrier or service provider-- Minimum of three years’ experience with Cisco ASR 9K, CSR-1, GRS or other
Cisco routers using the IOS XR-- Experience 7600 series or other Cisco routers-- Relevant job experience within a Tier 3 or higher support organization or
within the telecom department of a major financial institution or large

major Service Providers-- Resolve product issues-- High degree of engagement with both customer and development personnel-- Technical review and oversight of system changes escalations for operations
center and network support personnel-- Provide leadership in developing operations procedures, support tools and
utilitiesSpecial Skills:-- Expert level knowledge in IP Networking:-- Strong knowledge of MPLS, BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies-- Ability to analyze and suggest improvements to both IP and legacy based
networks-- In-depth knowledge of Network Design to include complex routing and
switching solutions-- Expertise with Cisco routers and switches used in a Service Provider
environment-- SME in operating systems (Cisco IOS and/or XR) software, features and
functionality-- Experienced with configuring routing and switching devices-- Understanding of IP protocols and awareness of offerings from ALU, Juniper
and/or other OEM’s-- Some Project Management experience and the ability to multitask in a
fast-paced environment-- Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational ability and time management
