Alto is growing rapidly and we are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable HR generalist to help us establish our in-house Human Resources team as we expand our employee base across multiple states. This person will be an independent, self-starter who can create and administer HR policies to improve employee experience and ensure compliance for the company. To start, this will be a “HR department of one” so the candidate should have the drive to both own and execute the HR systems, policies, and processes to keep the day-to-day business running while also thinking strategically about how to improve. As the company continues to grow, we expect this person to build out a centralized HR function to support Alto operations across the US.Responsibilities:● Oversee HR system and ensure compliance with all local, state and federal HR requirements.● Write, implement, and administer HR policies and programs. ● Maintains the employee handbook with updated legal requirements and other pertinent information, as needed.● Assist employees with questions on policy, benefits or systems . ● Oversee employee relations of 150+ active front-line employees. ● Administers Unemployment Claims, Leaves of Absences andMedical inquiries.● Select, oversee, and administer employee benefits. Coordinates health, life and disability insurance enrollments and communicates with service providers concerning routine administration of programs.● Oversee and support functional teams in talent acquisition● Conduct new employee onboarding. Assists in the development and implementation of HR-related training programs such as new hire orientation as well as policy and procedure training.● Develop and conduct ongoing employee training & development● Develop and implement employee engagement programs to improve employee experience and increase retention

Qualifications:● Excellent leadership and communication skills● Ability to build collaborative peer relationships across an organization● Excellent interpersonal skills● Ability to multitask and prioritize● Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality● At least 3-5 years of HR experience with California HR experience required● HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) required● Experience working with front line employees required● College degree required● Ability to work an atypical schedule when required (our business operates nearly 24/7)● Ability to travel 25% of timePhysical
