One of our clients in the IoT space is searching for a mid-level firmware engineer with experience developing, debugging, and supporting ARM-based hardware products. We are looking for someone who has worked in a small company environment and is familiar with radio modules and battery operated devices.Primary Responsibilities• Take ownership of existing suite of wireless tracking and sensing products to support and enhance them, including new feature development and integration with 3rd party hardware/software• Design, develop, debug and test new products• Participate in schematic reviews and work collaboratively with hardware designers• Perform unit and regression testing including debug of hardware and software• Participate in code reviews and release management• Train and work with product and software testing resources• Develop design documentation, user guides and product support materials• Interface with customers and 3rd parties that are using and/or integrating our products• Maintain deep hands-on technical knowledge of our hardware and software products• Engage in continuous learning to keep abreast of industry developments, architectures, designs, and innovations to ensure we are at the leading edge of our industry• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the product and software development lifecycle• Actively participate in product and process improvement initiatives• Participate in daily scrum meetings• Ensure cost optimization of our products and servicesNeeded Requirements▪ 5+ years of experience in C programming on ARM 32-bit processors▪ Demonstrated experience with battery powered wireless devices▪ Comfortable with RTOS and bare-metal development▪ Must have experience with various communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, Modbus etc.▪ Knowledge and experience with radio modules such as cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, LoRa, UWB, etc.▪ Experience implementing firmware security features and encryption schemes▪ Knowledge and experience in sensor technology and products including temperature, humidity, pressure, accelerometers, light sensors, etc.▪ History of working on products deployed globally in significant volume▪ Experience using various source control technologies such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Git▪ Experience leading or working on teams performing systems automation and integration in an agile methodology and/or using lean techniquesPreferred Requirements▪ BSc/BA/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred▪ Experience with GUI development in C# is a plus▪ Experience with product safety and emissions certifications a plus▪ Specific experience with geospatial mapping systems and APIs a plus▪ Experience with battery powered embedded systems, fuel gauge experience a plus▪ Experience with project tracking tools such as JIRA▪ Demonstrate knowledge of product integration with cloud architectures, specifically Microsoft Azure
