 Engineering ManagerLocation:  Must spend 2 weeks out of each month in Lubbock Texas and may work remote the remainder of the time SUMMARY:Interim Engineering Manager (EM) to oversee the Engineering department at our client’s business for 6 -12 months. Plans, supervises, and participates in design and project management of electrical transmission and distribution projects including customer contact, field investigation, analysis, design, preparation of plans and specifications, and coordination of engineering professional and technical staff.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Plan, direct, and supervise electrical engineering design, review, approval, and project management of street lighting, overhead, and underground electric distribution systems at voltages up to 345 KV;Develop, maintain, and hold team members accountable for compliance processes, helping our client adhere to ERCOT, TRE, NERC, and other regulatory requirements;Perform analysis of electrical systems including NESC calculations, short circuit calculations, load flow calculations, voltage drop calculations, transformer sizing, lighting calculations, capacitor application, overcurrent protection and coordination;Prepare cost estimates and written reports; develop specifications for materials and services; promote and represent our client in personal contacts and presentations to customers, architects, engineers, committees and boards;Supervise engineering staff directly or through subordinates to accomplish the tasks above;Research and apply new materials, methods, techniques, and technologies to expand and improve the efficiency, reliability, safety, and quality of our client’s distribution system;Provide support, applications, and training for computer, software & GIS systems;Monitor, document, and recommend policies for departmental environmental compliance;Monitor electric systems operations and respond to emergency call-out to assist in system restoration and customer contact;Develop, monitor, and administer contracts for materials and services;Prepare and administer engineering section operating budget, and capital projects budget;Perform related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS:Completion of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field with an additional ten plus years of electrical utility engineering experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following: Valid Current Driver's LicensePhysical exam requiredProfessional Engineer LicenseKNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of:The principles and practices of electrical engineering;The principles and practices of electric utility design, construction, and operation;Principles of management and supervision;Principles of budgeting and capital projects management;Perform professional level electrical engineering duties.Perform transmission and distribution system modeling, planning, and outage coordination.Deep understanding of ERCOT operational interactions and market participationDeep understanding of TRE & NERC engineering requirements for TO, TOP, and TP.  Experience in related audits is preferred.  Ability to:Leadership that can build teamwork, motivate others, and solve complex problems when there is no perfect solution; Supervise the work of others;Communicate effectively with others;Maintain records and prepare reports;Use a variety of computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, database, CAD, simple programming, and power modeling platforms;Use and interpret data from a variety of electrical and electronic instruments and devices;Provide excellent customer service;Prepare and administer operating budgets;Prepare and administer capital projects and budgets.Physical
